Well, most you here probably know who I am. So, I guess this post will be mostly a little catch-up post. A little "how is your life going?" To start...still here in Iowa. Still have the 10 dogs. Still longing to be back in Alaska. Someday Megan, Someday... These things are always awkward to say or write....you never really know what to say. Do you just go "oh yeah, my life is fine" or, do you go into a bit of detail, treading the fine line between interest and way to much info? Moving on... I am currently going to school for photography, as if the dogs werent expensive enough. But, like the dogs, you dont really think of the expense since you love it and just cant get enough. Also like the dogs, people look at you weird over your definition of cheap. "Hey, that lens has a instant rebate knocking the price down to $600! Score!" As it has been for the majority of my life, I have no idea what to do next. And my plans can change instantly. Currently I'm swaying to transfering to a university and going for journalism. I like writing. I like taking pictures. I like asking questions. I apparently like working under pressure as proven by my love of procrastinating to the last minute. (I get everything done in time that I need to!) I guess it fits. I could be really way off base in my thinking, but oh well. ("Ha Ha! She was wrong! That will teach her!") In summary, I am doing good. The dogs are doing good. I have a dog sleeping behind me and a cat sleeping next to me. Good music is playing on the radio, and I can hear the wind starting to howl. Life is good. I am content.

Megan! :-)
That's neat you're thinking about Journalism. When I applied to UAF, I put my major down as Wildlife Biology, but I never did take a science class. Go figure. I'm absolutely loving journalism... it's the perfect focus for me, and includes everything I'm interested in. Writing, photography, website design, traveling, talking to people, asking questions, always doing something new... It's really a lot of fun, and I've been enjoying writing for the school newspaper, too.
As far as wanting to get to Alaska, you should at least go on exchange to UAF for a semester. OR, load up all your dogs in a truck and rent a cabin here. But if that doesn't happen soon, well, at least you have snow... for now... and when it melts, maybe you'll be more inclined to head north. And when you do, give me a call :-)

Haha you sound like me Megan - I really have no idea what I'm going to do with myself. When it comes to dogs, I have everything all planned out. But when it comes to me... big question mark. With some luck, hopefully we'll all end up in a place we want to be.

Hehe, good to know I'm not the only one. I know I want to do something that a) involves art and b) can get me a regular paycheck. Unfortunately that's a tricky combination I know how expensive art supplies can be too... ugh. And this year I had to buy a laptop with a whole bunch of software on it - ouch. But at least it should last me a while. I know exactly where I want to end up: living out in the country with a bunch of dogs, with a decent paying job that doesn't drive me completely nuts. But exactly how am I going to get there? No idea. Right now I just have to focus on getting my degree; I guess I'll worry about the rest later. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works out well for all of us.

Sarah- I've been thinking off and on about taking a trip to AK this summer, staying for I dont know how long. I have family in Fairbanks, so I would have (hopefully) a place to stay. Biggest issue is the costs. Plane ticket would be about $600-$700 and the additional living costs. I dont want to free load off my family, so ideally I would like to pay for my food, my own items, and pay them a bit for the living space. So in total, I would probably need $2500+ saved up. Currently I have $0. lol Im thinking in June or July, so I have 6 months to save up...whether or not I can get all that in time, who knows. I do know that I would really love to spend a good amount of time in Fairbanks. I've only been there once, for 24 hours. For that little of time, I did like it, but I want to experience it more. I never really got to experience the whole "feel" of the place. Went to Cold Spot, went out to eat, and went to Fred Meyers. (Wish I remember the name of that place we ate at - had wicked good Italian food) Anyway...I would love to hear more about UAF, and the journalism department there. If you could email/pm me with what your impressions of it are, how are the instructors, general feelings about the campus, etc, that would be absolutly wonderful.

Photography and journalism both sound pretty cool. I'd have a hard time choosing too :).Let me know if you're going to be in Anchorage. We can grab a coffee if you can.
