Dog'ged Juniors

Remy was hit by a car last Thursday. It's still all so surreal, no matter how many times I read those words over and over- my head just can't process it.

She's okay, as far as we know, just really really beat up. Covered in abrasions and somewhat severe cases of road rash. A lot of her hair on her stomach and rear end was ripped out, either from the car or the road.

I had yelled to her, she went across the street... there were no cars, but apparently the light changed at the end of the road just as I had called her. She came running, the car came speeding, and it was inevitable.

I almost got hit myself... kind of lost my mind- and that's putting it lightly

Whoa, how scary... I'm glad you're both ok! 

The same kind of thing happened to our old husky, Sadie, when she was younger- we were on a walk and her collar broke and she ran straight out into the busy road... the collision looked awful, and we thought she was horribly injured, but she ended up having only some bruising and stiffness.  She was incredibly lucky, but it was terrifying just the same.  And then, a few years ago, my best friend's Brittany was killed by a car right in front of their house... it was awful    To this day I'm always super paranoid whenever we're walking the dogs around traffic, and I sometimes have nightmares about this exact same kind of thing happening. 

I hope Remy feels better soon (and you too).

I'm glad to hear you guys are both ok!!! Very scary stuff

thank you, everyone :] We're doing pretty well now. She went back for her check up to make sure everything was okay, and even got her second set of vaccinations. Everything was all healed up nicely and we were even able to start Agility & Frisbee these past couple of weeks.

We got pretty lucky.
